The PS/IS 180 Parent Teacher Association provides support and resources to assist the administration and faculty in building a stimulating environment for the benefit and educational growth of every child; to advocate for fair and quality education; to promote and develop a cooperative working relationship between the parents and staff while providing a place for the expression and advocacy of parents’ concerns.

Participation

All PS/IS 180 parents, legal guardians, and teachers are automatically a part of the PTA general membership.  Meetings of the general membership are held once a month and provide an opportunity to receive updates from the executive board, team leads, principal, and parent coordinator.  They also serve as a forum for discussing the matters that are important to our families.  Family participation is critical to the success of the PTA and school.  Every voice matters.  Please see the school calendar for the dates.

In addition to attending the general membership meeting, parents have the opportunity to lead or join a team focused on a specific area.  Teams are a way for the PTA to spread the workload around and empower small groups to move fast and autonomously.  Let your passion and expertise make a lasting impact on the school.  Some example teams:

Giving

As we seek to maintain a rich tradition of excellence, enrichment and engagement at PS/IS 180, we are requesting support from all families in our school community. One way the PTA supports the school is through an annual pledge drive, which helps make possible many schoolwide programs, including community events, RTS Jaguar Jumpstart, recess support, classroom supplies, Ballet Hispanico, Midori and Friends Music, Cool Culture, Theater arts performances, Jaguar Knights Chess program, Green Team school gardening, composting and sustainability, school tours, pictures, lost and found and more
