Summer Learning Resources
The last day of school is Friday, June 26th; however, summer learning and enrichment at PS/IS 180 does not end there. Research shows that typical summer learning loss has the potential to be magnified followed by an extended pause from in-person instruction. To prevent a COVID-19 Slide, we are addressing immediate needs of students by offering independent summer learning in what researchers are calling a COVID-19 Slowdown. We are laser-focused on providing educational and enrichment opportunities to maintain academic achievement and reduce disruption in July and August.
To support your family in engaging your child in literacy at home, please refer to the materials shared at our April & June Principal-Parent Coffee Chats: https://padlet.com/carl_ciaramitaro/ntdz8edshjgv877f
PS/IS 180 faculty have thoughtfully prepared a re-imagined Summer Packet. Please click on the link(s) below to access learning materials, video tutorials/ mini-lessons, Kahoot games, reading lists, pandemic journal writing, FlipGrid Book Buzzes, virtual field trips, art, and science projects, dual language learning support, and so much more. These materials are self-paced for you and your family to access when your schedule permits. The expectation is that your child interacts with the Padlet materials weekly and reads daily to help us slow down and not slide this summer.
